The Designs Act, 2000

Provides for the registration and protection of industrial designs — the visual features of shape, configuration, pattern, ornament, or composition of lines or colours applied to any article. Design registration confers exclusive right to apply the registered design, protecting the aesthetic appeal and commercial value of product design.
