Accessibility Statement

·

Target: WCAG 2.1 Level AA

Corpus Juris Legal is committed to making its website accessible to all users, including persons with disabilities. We are actively working to ensure that www.corpusjurislegal.com meets the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, as well as applicable requirements under Indian law.

1. Our Commitment

We believe that access to legal information should not be limited by disability. We are committed to:

  • Designing and maintaining our website in accordance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards;
  • Regularly auditing the Website for accessibility issues;
  • Training our development and content teams on accessibility best practices;
  • Responding promptly to accessibility complaints and feedback;
  • Continuously improving the accessible user experience.

2. Conformance Status

We are working towards full conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Our current conformance status is partially conformant — meaning that some content does not yet fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively addressing known issues through our ongoing development programme.

The four WCAG 2.1 principles we aim to satisfy are:

Perceivable

Information and UI components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive — including text alternatives, captions, and sufficient colour contrast.

Operable

UI components and navigation must be operable — including keyboard accessibility, sufficient time limits, and no content that could cause seizures.

Understandable

Information and operation of UI must be understandable — including readable text, predictable navigation, and input assistance.

Robust

Content must be robust enough to be reliably interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

3. Accessibility Features Implemented

The following accessibility features are currently implemented on this Website:

  • Semantic HTML: Proper use of heading hierarchy (H1–H6), landmark elements (nav, main, section, footer), and ARIA attributes where appropriate.
  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements (links, buttons, forms) are accessible via keyboard. Tab order follows a logical reading sequence.
  • Focus Indicators: Visible focus indicators are present on all interactive elements for keyboard users.
  • Colour Contrast: Text and interactive elements meet the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
  • Text Alternatives: All meaningful images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images have empty alt attributes.
  • Resizable Text: The Website supports browser text zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
  • Language Declaration: The HTML lang attribute is set to “en-IN” to assist screen readers.
  • Skip Navigation: A skip-to-main-content link is available for keyboard and screen reader users.
  • Form Labels: All form inputs have associated visible labels and ARIA descriptions.
  • Error Identification: Form validation errors are identified both visually and programmatically via ARIA.
  • No Keyboard Traps: Keyboard focus is never trapped in a component from which a user cannot escape using standard keys.
  • Responsive Design: The Website adapts correctly to all screen sizes including mobile devices, maintaining accessibility at all viewport widths.

4. Known Issues and Limitations

We are aware of the following areas where accessibility improvements are in progress:

  • Some downloadable PDF documents (legal guides and templates) may not be fully accessible to screen readers. We are working to provide accessible HTML alternatives for all downloadable resources.
  • The interactive FAQ accordion component is being updated to ensure full ARIA expanded/collapsed state announcement in all screen reader environments.
  • Some older blog content may contain images without alt text. We are conducting a content audit to address this.

We aim to resolve all known issues within our next scheduled development release cycle.

5. Assistive Technologies Tested

We test the Website with the following assistive technologies:

  • NVDA (Windows) with Chrome and Firefox
  • JAWS (Windows) with Chrome and Edge
  • VoiceOver (macOS) with Safari
  • VoiceOver (iOS) with Safari on iPhone
  • TalkBack (Android) with Chrome

6. Legal Framework

This accessibility statement is published consistent with good practice under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act 2016 (India) and the Government of India's Guidelines for Indian Government Websites. Our target standard is WCAG 2.1 Level AA, which aligns with the EN 301 549 accessibility standard referenced internationally.
