The Customs Act, 1962
Governs the levy and collection of customs duties on imports and exports, the prevention of illegal imports and exports, and related procedures. The Act administered by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) through Customs Houses at ports, airports, and land border crossings. It provides for advance rulings, valuation disputes, and settlement through the Customs, Excise and Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT).
