The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908

Provides the procedural framework for civil litigation in India, covering jurisdiction of civil courts, pleadings, trial procedure, execution, appeals, and interlocutory matters. The CPC operates through the main body of 158 sections and Order I to Order XLIX in the First Schedule, which contain detailed procedural rules. Commercial courts now have their own modified CPC procedure for commercial disputes above ₹3 lakh.
